A spiritual walk lasts more than a lifetime…
In the beginning, your spiritual walk can begin as early as when you are first born or shortly thereafter, with your baptism. And yes, it involves God, but more specifically, the Triune God; one God in three persons, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost. A true spiritual walk with God must include Jesus Christ, the Son of God; to omit Him, is to omit God from your walk.
In the Bible, our spiritual guidebook, Jesus Himself tells us “He that honoreth not the Son honoreth not the Father which hath sent Him” (John 5:23). We need our Lord Jesus Christ to help with our spiritual walk. In the Bible, Jesus says “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me”, (John 14:6). Without Jesus, we will simply live out our life here on earth and not continue onward to Heaven to spend eternity with God. The Bible states “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23), and since we are all sinful at our very nature, we need to be cleansed by Jesus’ blood before we have salvation and continue our eternal walk with the Almighty. Trying to be good and righteous is simply not enough, we cannot earn our salvation, no matter what we do. The Bible states “all our righteous acts are like filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6).
Our salvation comes only through faith in Jesus Christ, and as a believer in Christ, a Christian, you should want to do and act as Jesus Himself would do. Ask yourself, what would Jesus do (WWJD) or what would He think about what I am doing? The Bible further states, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life”, (John 3:16). God loves us so much that He sent his only Son, Jesus Christ to die on our behalf redeeming us and washing away our sins so we may continue our journey onward to walk with Him. We simply must believe that Jesus Christ is the way and the truth and the life. We must have faith, in spite of what may happen to us or our loved ones while we live out our lives here on earth. Remember, we are only here for such a short amount of time (80 to 90 years if lucky), then comes the eternity…forever and ever and ever…it is a very long time.
Can you even imagine what it will be like to enjoy a spiritual walk with Jesus, the Son of God? Just you and Him strolling to go visit God the Father? That indeed is a spiritual walk I am looking forward to. I pray you seek out the Triune God in the one true spiritual guidebook, the Bible. I pray you believe that Jesus Christ is your Savior and was sent by God the Father to die for your sins and has saved you for all eternity. I pray the Holy Ghost enters your heart and continues to help your faith continue to grow and keep you on the one true path. I pray that one day soon, you walk with God, for all eternity!
